Appleworks Dictionary Database

Here is a fun way to work on definitions with your students. It’s an Appleworks definition database that allows them to enter-

  • the word
  • the definition
  • their version of the definition
  • a picture relating to the definition
  • and some interesting facts or sites relating to the word.

An attempt at a funny definition for my own name is below but that might be a great hook for students. You might want to have their first assignment be the creation of a definition card for themselves.

There are so many technologies “out there” and no one can truly keep up with them all. This workshop is intended to introduce a few broad areas of technology, give you some examples to explore, and some more resources for following up.

A great side for surveying some of the new technology out there.  Give it a shot.

Google Video

WWII - Google Video

Video.google.com is a fairly new resource.  It has a large amount of free and pay content. It is all searchable by key words and well worth checking out for extra material.
The link above is for a search on WWII videos.  There is some great stuff around for educational use but you have to find it.  This is not a site where you want to have students wandering around as you can find some marginal content.
